Straight from the 2008 RFR Fan of the Year: Jon's Dover Preview

Hello Roush Fenway Racing Fans!

"I have to say, I had one awesome time while I was the guest of RFR during the Coca Cola 600 weekend in Charlotte last week!  I met so many people at RFR and I have to say that they are the most wonderful, polite, and gracious people in the racing industry!  Meeting the drivers and Jack was awesome, of course, but getting to know the people behind the scenes at RFR headquarters was such a delight for my wife, Lisa, and me!  They are all great individuals who do their jobs so professionally and with a ton of integrity.  We are so glad that we got to meet everyone there in Concord.  You gentlemen and ladies are truly the class of your fields!  Hats off to you and thanks a million once again for a great time!

"Even though the 600 was rained out on Sunday and we had to fly home on Monday, Lisa and I did so many things while we were there.  I have so many memories (and over 600 pictures) of our time there, that I want to go back again in the near future and visit with everyone!  I had an opportunity to practice tire changing on the #99 Aflac car with members of Carl's pit crew.  That was awesome!  I thought I did okay for a beginner, but I'll leave the changing to the real professionals, the pit crews.  Those guys are so fast and so precise. It's safe to say I won't be quitting my day job after my experience!  I also had the chance to tour the race shops, do an interview on Sirius NASCAR Radio, watch Carl do a video shoot at the studios, watch autograph sessions with the fans, see some of the technology that RFR uses to check the geometry and aero of their cars at various race tracks that they race at (the 7-Post tester), meet and greet the drivers and their personal representatives (awesome people!!), hang out with the pit crews and mechanics (great people also!!!), tour the inside of some of the team haulers (that was so cool!!), host a movie night for fans at the headquarters (that was a great opportunity!!), watch practices at the track, AND I was lucky enough to sit on top of the #16 CitiFinancial pit wagon and watch about 90 laps from that vantage point.  That was a real treat for me and what a different perspective it is from where the crew chief sits!  Totally cool!  I did much more too, but I don't have the space or time to write it all.  Perhaps in another section of the website some time. Again, I want to thank everyone at RFR for making my dream come true!  You are all wonderful people and I am glad to call all of you "friends" after our time together in Concord.  You are the reason why Roush Fenway Racing is the greatest NASCAR team organization there is!

"Now, let's move on to Dover for this weekend's racing action.  First off, Colin Braun is going to win a Camping World Truck Series race this year.  That young man is an awesome talent, and an even better person.  I hope this is the weekend for your first victory, Colin!  Do your best and go get 'em!  Next, Dover is a track where Roush Fenway Racing has done extremely well in the past, and although our results aren't where we expect them to be yet this year as an organization, there is no reason to not think that past shapes the future here at this track with RFR, and WE WILL WIN THIS WEEKEND, and break out of our winless streak!!!!  If the cars can unload fast and handle well throughout the weekend, it will be party-time at RFR through next week!  We all just have to keep on believing in our teams and their capabilities!  As Carl would say, "Never give up!"  That's what I am going to do, and I hope you do, too!  Good luck to all of our teams this weekend at Dover, and let's bring home another trophy for that vast collection at the RFR headquarters in Concord!"

Your 2008 RFR Fan of the Year,

Jon
